1. Who was your favorite character and why? Three sentences
My Favorite character was The Yellow Guy. He was my favorite because it almost seemed as though he was having an inner conversation with himself, inside of the monologue itself. He would often make a statement, and then counter that statement in a more subdued tone. Really interesting! The whole time I kept thinking, "I wonder what his painting looks like?" "Why does he say he's not emotional but is having a mental breakdown over global warming?" So many layers, so many questions.
2. Which Actor did you like the best and why? Three sentences
The actor that I liked the best was by far RdCon119. I don't think I have ever heard anyone speak more seriously about how President Bush did, in fact, have something to do with 9/11 and how people were hiding in tunnels under the Vatican. Talk about commitment. I was half-convinced she was gonna ask me to sign some petition to impeach Trump by the end of the video. It was all very real. #woke
3. Where was a moment you felt like you could see an actor trying to get what their character wanted? What verbs did they use? Two sentences and 3 verbs
Back to RdCon119, she was determined to make her viewers understand that we need to be aware of the political schemes we are a part of, which is ultimately what she wanted. There wasn't a TON of facts, but nonetheless her diction and tone had me convinced.
persuade
lewer
empower
4. What moment in the story resonated with you the most and why? Three sentences
The moment that resonated with me the most was when the artist, The Yellow Guy, found himself overwhelmed with the detrimental state of our environment/ climate change. I often find myself in this same spiral because honestly, it's terrifying! As a Biology major, I would like to say that I can combat this with fact over fear. The only issue is that the fact is we really are going downhill fast. I really hope Earth is around in the next decade or two because I would like to have kids. Also, it would be really annoying if I just dropped all this money on college only for the planet to self implode before I get to make use of my degree. I digress.
Jillian! I love your journal entry. Your verbs for RdCon119 are right on the money. I am glad you enjoyed her piece. As for the state of the planet, oh gosh. I know exactly what you mean. I feel like sometimes, I could almost despair. But we try to press on. I wonder if maybe the virus might scare us into becoming more aware of how much we are part of a larger ecosystem. We love to think of ourselves as rugged individuals. Perhaps this will help expand our viewpoint. But probably not. 😥 We shall try and continue to be brave. And please, always digress. I value your thoughts.
