1. My favorite character in Into the Woods (My high school did this play when I was there) was definitely Jack because of his optimism and just general vibe. Jack is the nice guy who gives the baker what they need, (his cow) in exchange for some beans that he doesn’t know will grow into his beanstalk. I also like how Jack even seems to have a close relationship with his cow, becoming attached to him, and wanting to buy him back. He’s just an overall loving character.
2. I think the actor and actress who were in the main roles as the baker and his wife, I think their names are Joanna Gleason and Tom Aldrege, were just wonderful. They played the roles very seriously, and I feel like you can really tell what emotion they were trying to portray in each scene.
3. When the baker and his wife meet with Jack, and they try to buy his cow. They almost kind of trick him or lead him on to think that it’s a fair deal, when they know they’re giving him “magic beans.” Both characters clearly are deceiving Jack, while also comforting him. They deceive and comfort Jack in order to make him feel comfortable selling them his cow.
4. I think the moment that resonates with me the most in Into the Woods would have to be towards the end, when the characters realize their lives aren’t fixed by one thing. The witch is the most powerful moment I believe, because she was the one who had the higher status and all the power, and she breaks down when she realizes that she lost it all for her beauty. I think that moment really could hit home for all of us when we realize that we made a decision that we regret.
Thank you for turning this in.
