1. Where are they physically?
An inpatient psych ward.
2. How do they spend their time/ what is their job?
He is hospitalized for the time being. He spends most of his time in therapy.
3. What is important to them?
He can’t wait to get discharged, and would do anything to get out. For now, he’s biding his time.
4. What are they anxious/worried about?
He has a huge crush on a girl named Rebecca and is anxious about asking to date her.
5. What are five other Given Circumstances about them?
He is male, 17 years old. He has never had a girlfriend. He is wry and hides a lot of his pain with humor. He hears voices. He is in inpatient for trying to overdose on his dad’s oxycontin.
Ok! We are off to an exciting start here! Is he bidding his time because of Rebecca or is there something else that is keeping him from fully pursuing getting out. Does he know he just has to spend a certain amount of time here and so his actions are meaningless; it is just a matter of time? Or is this a situation of waiting for a specific opportunity to get out? Does he feel like he wants help? Are the voices the reason he took the oxycontin? Or are both things related to his loneliness. Does he want to stop hearing voices? Has he told anyone about them yet?
Very excited to learn more and see this complex character come to life.
